Ever wanted to sign you name under a Monet at the Louvre? Is the graffiti on on overpass near your High School the closest you have come to having “your name in lights?” Ever wanted to say that you gave John Cryer $50 before he made Two And A Half Men? Me Too. Which is why I want to present you with the opportunity to get in on the ground floor—I mean really down...

Hunch Blog | Blog Archive | Mac vs. PC: A Hunch... →
Macs! PCs! One of them is better than the other in some ways! (Awaits flamewar.) Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming: The folks at crowdsourced decision-making site Hunch have crunched the numbers on close to 400,000 participating users to paint differing portraits of Mac and PC users. Their results, assembled in the infographic below, back up some Mac/PC user stereotypes while...

Whether search engines like Google and Bing make you stupider or smarter is largely up to you, explains psychiatrist Gary Small during Big Think’s Farsight 2011 event.

Apple vs. Microsoft by the numbers - Computerworld →
If you invested $1,000 in each company’s stock on Jan. 3, 2000, what would you have ended up with in April 2011? Accounting for stock splits and, in Microsoft’s case, dividends, but excluding taxes and broker’s fees, you would have $2,072 from Microsoft stock and $13,294 from Apple stock.

Dear, Moat.com. Where have you been all my life.
If you work with online advertising, until recently there hasn’t been a very good way to find out which ads are running across the Internet. Search engines like Google index the underlying web pages, and strip out the display ads. If looking for a particular brand you could get luck a few times, but for the most part you were SOL. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Moat

Until reading this, I have never imagined myself being delighted by a surprise bouquet. But thanks to kaptaink_cg at Instructables, now I can finally partake in the satisfaction of receiving a vase of long-stems without the fear of embarrassment. Making these pork flowers seems surprisingly easy, requiring only minor modification of a muffin tin, and some cheap plastic flower stems. The...

There is no secrete about the internet’s disruptiveness to industries once thought of as indestructible. It has essentially pulverized printed maps, crushed CDs (software, music, etc.), neutered newspapers, and is in the final stages of eating the proverbial lunch of book and video retail stores (a la Blockbuster and Borders). But there is a new smaller but more powerful kid on the block. Its...

“it’s sad, then, that the pictures we’ve been drooling over for years are actually of MEAT! Veg News has written tens (possibly hundreds) of articles extolling the virtues of a vegan lifestyle, while purchasing rock-bottom priced stock photos of MEAT, EGGS, DAIRY and other completely non-vegan things.”

Hilariousness - I would be totally fine with this trick shot “doctor” working on me, right up until he does the thing with what looks like a jar of ether. That’s a bit over the line for me doc, but you can throw tongue depressors at my face all day.

Not quite sure about the “Milkshake” reference, but I would be very surprised if Apple has that much market share by then. Apple’s uncompromising standards are a premium, and will be priced accordingly. I believe the wallet will swing to the less expensive, and android-based tablets are poised for drastic price shifts.

Android Gripes: Why do apps from the same company... →
I have wondered this myself. I look forward to some responses. android-gripes: When I use an iPhone and an Android phone at the same time, I often find that apps from the same company look a lot different on these two platforms - the ones on Android usually look much worse. Here is a couple of examples. This is what Meebo IM looks on Android, the contact list screen and…
